Mission
This mission of Westside Community Church is simple.
Share Jesus . . . in worship, in relationship, in service
Share Jesus
Jesus asked his followers to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19). This has been and always will be the mission of Christ’s Church. The Westside family affirms our commitment to this call with the words “Share Jesus.” We believe people come to know Jesus and grow in their walk with him through three primary activities.
. . . in worship
Authentic worship pleases God and deepens our connection with him. This truth applies to both individual and corporate times of praise. Acts 4:13 reminds us, others can tell when we have been with Jesus. When the Westside family gathers our goal is to share a genuine expression of our love for Jesus and to offer an environment where people can connect with him. We hope the evidence of our having been with Jesus gives either a passive or direct opportunity to share about him.
. . . in relationship
Meaningful relationships are an important part of getting to know Jesus and growing in a relationship with him. Through our relationships with others the nurture and love of Christ is both given and received. 1 John 1:7 tells us that one of the marks of those who follow Jesus is “fellowship with one another.” Here at Westside we encourage relational engagement on a variety of levels: for discipleship, biblical study, personal growth, support, fitness, and yes, sometimes just for fun.
. . . in service
Jesus said he did not come to be served but to serve (Matthew 20:28). In Galatians 5:13 we are instructed to serve one another in humility and love. Service is a reflection of our Christian nature and it makes a difference. Options for service are plentiful, we encourage a balance between opportunities within the church family and those beyond us.
Our motto is “keeping faith simple,” so we ask only four things. 1) Worship regularly and do so with authenticity.
2) Genuinely connect with others. 3) Serve joyfully inside and outside the church. 4) Do it all, to Share Jesus.
